about
mirna stanic
Mirna Stanic is a Croatian singer, songwriter, producer, and guitarist based in Berlin. A songwriter at heart, her work is rooted in emotional storytelling, sonic curiosity, and a deep commitment to helping artists find and nurture their authentic voice. She began classical guitar training at the age of seven and played her first concerts as a student in her hometown of Zagreb before moving to the UK in her twenties, where her career took a decisive step forward.
While based in Brighton, she developed her singer-songwriter project Minor Sounds and, in 2012, signed a publishing deal with FatCat Records, followed by airplay on BBC Radio 6 and BBC Sussex. Since relocating to Berlin in 2014, she has worked extensively across Germany and the UK as an artist, producer, and mixing engineer. Berlin’s eclectic music scene strongly shaped her sound, leading her toward electronic production with vintage synthesizers and drum machines, while staying grounded in her nostalgic alt-pop sensibility.
Drawing inspiration from 1980s pop and rock, M.Rider creates cinematic, atmospheric songs that balance emotional depth with elegance and restraint. Her music has been described as playful, sensual, and introspective—imbued with saudade and shaped by the perspective of a wandering, soul-searching songwriter. Over the years, she has collaborated with a wide range of established musicians and producers across Europe. Her debut EP Dark Horse (2017) was co-produced by David Kosten (Bat For Lashes) and featured percussion by Jason Cooper (The Cure). For her debut LP, she has worked with artists including Vincent Taurelle (Air), Earl Harvin (Air, Tindersticks), Neil Fraser (Tindersticks), Lucy Wilkins (Bryan Ferry), Axel Reinemer (Jazzanova), Leo Abrahams, and Franz Kirmann. Her new album is set for release in 2026.
Alongside her artistic work, M.Rider runs a studio in East Berlin where she works on production, recording, mixing, and co-writing projects with other artists. With more than 15 years of professional experience as a musician, live sound engineer, producer, and mixing engineer, she also offers mentoring and teaching. Her approach combines songwriting, guitar, electronic instruments, production, and mixing with practical guidance on navigating the music industry—helping artists get started in a sustainable way, find funding, and avoid common pitfalls.
