JAKA
JAKA takes its name from the Croatian word for “strong” in its feminine form and under this name stands for a platform created by and for FLINTA musicians.
Founded and run by Berlin-based artist and sound engineer M. Rider, JAKA was born out of a space where womxn in music can speak out, learn from each other, and not feel alone.
Too many female musicians, producers, and engineers have faced mistreatment in productions studios, struggled through touring and motherhood without support, or spent years navigating the industry entirely on their own. JAKA exists to change that by bringing these issues out into the open.
At the heart of the platform is a podcast series: intimate, in-depth conversations recorded in M. Rider’s Berlin studio, where guests speak candidly about their experiences sharing stories and where possible best advice. Alongside the talk, music plays a central role: guests share tracks they love, present their own work, and perform live, making each episode both a dialogue and a musical experience.
JAKA’s goal is to foster connection and mutual support among womxn in music, raising awareness about working conditions in the industry, helping build necessary skills while creating safer and supportive networks, one conversation at a time.
